Village Green: Collum Announces Candidacy for 2nd Term as South Orange Village President:

On March 1, Sheena Collum announced her candidacy for a second term as Village President of South Orange, NJ via her preferred communication medium — Facebook.

Collum posted:

Happy March 1st. It’s snowing, our school district has a delayed opening, our Village Offices will open at normal hours, our jitneys are running on schedule, and I’m announcing my candidacy to serve a second term as your South Orange Village President.

I’m excited to tell you more later but first, let’s get our kids off to school safely and make sure I have enough time to wipe half my eyebrow off my cheek since I accidentally slept in make up last night.

Collum then directed Facebook friends to follow her campaign page at

Collum was elected to the office in May 2015 — as the first female to lead the Township as Village President — after serving two years as a Village Trustee. She faces a challenge from Trustee Deborah Davis Ford who announced her candidacy for Village President in January. Deadline to file for the election is March 11. Election Day is May 14.

On Sunday, March 3, Collum made the announcement formally via a press release, inviting the community to an official launch event on March 10.
